Your practice is yours.

Your email address, so you can sign in. Sign-in is a one-time link by default; if you set a password, it is stored securely (hashed), never in plain text.

Your sessions: the impressions you write, the sketches you draw, your self-ratings, and basic session details like time and length. If you use scored mode, we also save how you ranked the candidate places, the resulting score, and which places you have been shown before, so your history and your progress view are accurate. These are saved to your account so you can review them later.

Your preferences, such as whether guided prompts are on, stored in your browser.

Scanate does not ask for your location and does not use it. There is no location permission prompt, because there is nothing we need it for.

The conditions screen shows local sidereal time, which it works out from your device's time zone alone. That figure is saved with your session so you can see the conditions you practised under. Since we estimate it from your time zone, it tells us nothing about where you are that your time zone did not already say.

Only to run your account and save your sessions back to you. That is the entire purpose. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your session content for anything other than showing it to you.

If you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Scanate never sees or stores your card details. We keep only your plan status so we know whether to unlock Pro features.

Supabase stores your account and sessions in a database protected by row-level security, so each account can only read its own data.

Stripe processes payments.

Google Maps loads the map imagery used in the target reveal. When a reveal loads, your browser requests map tiles from Google, and Google's own privacy policy applies to that request.

Open-Meteo supplies the current weather shown at the revealed location. Your browser asks it about the target's coordinates, not yours.

Wikimedia hosts the freely licensed photographs shown for places that have no street-level imagery, and your browser loads those images directly.

Vercel hosts the app, processes standard web request logs, and provides our page-view analytics. Those analytics are cookieless and aggregate, which is why the app shows no cookie banner: they count visits and pages, not people.

Loading anything from another company means your browser tells it your IP address, the same as visiting any website. That is unavoidable for map tiles, weather and photographs, and it is why we keep the list of outside services short.

Scanate uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. It does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Your data stays until you decide to remove it. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your account page: that permanently erases your sessions, impressions, sketches, and unlocked casebook cards, and frees your email to sign up again later. It cannot be undone.

If you would rather we do it, email us and we will remove everything for you.

Scanate is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
